Let's start with Kyle. Less than one month after our family photos, Kyle had LASIK and is no longer wearing glasses. We'll just have to consider the photos a farewell to his old look.
For Everett, October was all about talking. Kyle and I had noticed he was clearly understanding almost everything we said, but he was still not saying much beyond his 3 favorite words – mama, dada and no. We decided to put some extra effort in to try encourage a growing vocabulary. With the help of some fun picture books and lots of talking with him, we've added bye, bear, ball, fish, dog, and night night. He seems to be close on a few other words like bugs, car, truck, tractor, pumpkin and Addi, but he's not quite there yet. Besides climbing everything in sight, Everett has been loving Addison's old Dreamlight, giving high-fives to Dad every morning, watching Daniel Tiger's neighborhood (he's starting to sing along to the song), feeding Gryffin, finding airplanes and helicopters in the sky, making sure he gets to come along for walks, and sneaking into the shower with either Mom or Dad.
We did a quick trip up into the mountains around the middle of the month. It's become one of my favorite traditions in recent years. Sadly, almost all of the yellow leaves had fallen in the area we visited. Even without the leaves, it was good to get out of the house and a fun adventure for us all.
Addison, who had been taunting me with her loose tooth (I hate all things teeth!) for weeks and weeks, finally lost her first tooth. She was soo excited and, for the first time in her life, not at all worried about blood. The Tooth Fairy brought her 4 shiny quarters for her tooth. Tonight she could barely eat her pizza crust because the other front, bottom tooth is loosening. She might have to ask for her two bottom teeth from Santa.
