What's a jicama?

Every week I'm updated through a lovely website called babycenter on fun facts about pregnancy. Part of this update is a fruit/veggie comparison for the baby's size or weight. So far we've gone from things like a blueberry all the way to butternut squash. This week I visited and found this creepy mystery food... the jicama.

Apparently... and only after some research I found it is also known as a mexican potato and is somewhat poisonous. Lovely. Either way it's freaky looking and apparently weighs as much as our kiddo at this juncture. Wouldn't it be more helpful if I actually had a knowledge of the object they were using as a comparison? Maybe I shouldn't complain since the comparisons will turn to a pineapple and a series of melons in my coming weeks - yikes!

In other baby related news, Kyle and I finished our childbirth class series yesterday. We learned a lot and giggled quite a bit at it all too. We were given a certificate, which apparently means we're ready to attempt childbirth. Again, yikes!

Finally, I posted a few weeks ago about a creative work side-project that involved screen printing t-shirts (onesies in my case). Well, the project is complete and I've got onesies, but no kiddo to model them. Lucky for me, one of my coworkers got one of my designs and actually took a picture of the piece being worn. Thanks to Paige, baby Avery and her blog post.
