1. There is a small island within the lake called Antelope Island (state park/bird and bison sanctuary), and conveniently enough there is a slightly frightening road out to it. And so we went.
2. For an awesome $9 per vehicle you too can visit.
3. Kyle and I encountered the great stench that comes along with the lake - kinda like standing next to the sulfuric pools at Yellowstone. Hard to miss and not very pleasant.
4. We spotted Bald Eagle #1 chillin' on the frozen section of the lake. Cool!
5. We got to the island, pulled over at an outlook and snapped our pics with Stanley (see below).
6. Saw 2 bison. Cool again.
7. Decided wandering around state parks was better when there wasn't snow everywhere - and thus got back in the car.
8. Saw Bald Eagle #1 again on the way out - PLUS Bald Eagles #2 and #3. Very cool.
9. Ran out of coca cola on the way back, which was (apparently) the only thing keeping my body from reacting to the stench of the big lake. Not cool, but mission accomplished.
For those of you dying to know more about the big ol' salty lake - you can click here for a more scientific/factual account of its qualities.
